A part of thriving in the world consists of learning about yourself and the people you are around. Being blind to culture will not help you thrive in your future careers, whatever they may be. While in college, it is essential to leave your comfort zone for awhile and allow yourself to become familiar with people from different backgrounds. People from cities, farms and, most importantly, people of different culture backgrounds. Becoming aware of the practices of cultures from people directly within the culture can change your perspective on many things you once knew. It will erase your culture biases due to any media stereotypes you may have been consumed by and allows you to gain a sense of appreciation for culture instead of judgment.

Cultures are all different but to not broaden your intelligence about them if you have the important to expand on what you know about them. It can also be something that can hold you back in your place of work and in school. Not being knowledgeable about cultures then stimulates fear. You may not understand practices or things done by certain groups of people if you do not educate yourself. Learning about other cultures then gives you knowledge to pass on, creating an understanding of culture for those who may not be able to access the diverse environment that you have. Take the opportunity of living in a diverse and environment and use it to equip with the tools to be a intelligent product of society. It will help you in whatever career path you choose and all your networking.
