Found what you like? Major Picking Time! by Brittany Waugh

Now that you’ve found what you like and maybe even a career that could possibly suit you, where should you go from here? Well now, it’s time to plan out how to pick your major. Picking a major for your career is challenging depending on what you choose to do. If you want to be a doctor you have tons of science majors and particular fields of study that you can venture into. If you want to be in business there are different specific type of business majors that you can be in. So how do you go about picking the one that is perfect for you?
Talking to counselors or career advisors can help you figure out what path is best to take in your future dream career. Some majors will not be the best for your career, others will equip with the knowledge you need to prosper in it. Either way, it is always good to gain opinions from others before choosing a random major. Along with this, please do your research. Doing in depth research on both your career and your major. Look at websites that relate to your major, talk to people in the profession, and try to actually work in the field as an intern.
Networking is a major part of becoming successful. You must get to know people within your field in order to choose if you really want to be in the field and to get a experience of what it would be like. Continue to be open minded along the way of choosing your career. Look at different components of the field that interest you and decide what you want your specialty to be. Again, do what makes you happy and do not let financial purpose hold you back. Your mental health will always be more important than a dollar bill.
