While being
undecided can be very stressful, there are some exciting aspects to it as well.
Going into college as a no preference major means that you have many options to
explore, which allows you to take a variety of classes. These classes tend to
be easier classes that are a general overview of what types of things the major
would involve. Many students really enjoy taking these classes because they are
based directly off their interests, rather than just being requirements for a
major. While many people think these classes area a waste of time, they can
actually be extremely beneficial. Many undecided students will take a random
class just because it sounds appealing and end up loving it. This allows them
to find majors that they never would have thought about in the first place. On
the other hand, taking these exploratory courses can help you realize what
types of things you don’t like as well. For instance, you may think
international relations sounds like a good major, but then you take a foreign
language and realize that you actually hate it. Therefore, these classes can be
very beneficial to finding both things you like and dislike and you can have
fun while doing it.
