What Is Your Major? by Bridget Spagnuolo

“Where do you want to go to college?” “How do you plan on getting in?” These two questions consume the life of high schoolers around the nation. The most rigorous courses are taken and a wide variety of clubs are joined just to put a staple of approval on a resume. When senior year closes these questions finally get answered as acceptance letters start to roll in. So now, a new question arises- “What is your major?”. For some, the answer is easy. Whether it be a childhood dream or a newfound love, these people seem to have their hearts set on one specific occupation. For others, the decision is not so easy. A list of nearly 500 majors can often be very intimidating, but creates an amazing experience to find the perfect fit. With a plethora of courses available, the opportunities to find a passion are endless. Personally, I am coming in to college with very little idea of what I want to go into. With help from academic advisors I was able to choose a load of different classes to explore various major options. I have started to lean towards business because it opens a path to many job opportunities and with the amazing programs at Michigan State, I feel it will take me anywhere I want to go. So, to answer the question, I don’t have a major yet, but I am confident that I will find something that will complete my life after college.
